Automated external defibrillator (AED)

Life saving skills everyone should know!

Hands Only CPR and Automated External Defibrillators

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere without warning. For the greatest chance of survival from the most common cause of SCA, immediate CPR should begin and a shock from a defibrillator must be delivered within the first few minutes of collapse. Don't be affraid to use an AED and perform chest compressions on someone who suddenly collapses, is unresponsive, and not breathing normally. It could save their life. AED's are now available for private in-home use. Contact us to learn more about these life-saving devices.

  • Without CPR and use of an AED, the likelihood of a successful resuscitation decreases by about 10% with every minute that passes.
  • Every second counts - when someone collapses and is in cardiac arrest, CPR and the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) can save lives! The AED is easy to use, simply turn it "ON" and follow the voice prompts. The device is safe and will only shock the person IF it "sees" a shockable heart arrhythmia.
  • It is critical that people use the devices when someone suddenly collapses and is not breathing normally.
  • CALL 9-1-1, send someone to get the AED, and begin Hands Only CPR. Learn CPR! We are a training center for all levels of American Heart Association CPR classes. Contact us for more information at 320-589-7421.

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Rapid initiation of CPR is critical to help someone survive sudden cardiac arrest. Time is of the essence during Sudden Cardiac Arrest and more people can survive with a bystander, family member or co-worker initiating CPR and utilizing an AED immediately when someone suddenly collapses unconcsious and unresponsive. Hands-Only CPR is an option for those not knowing how to perform CPR with ventilations.

The bottom line is: Everyone should know CPR!

  • Hands-Only CPR is a two-step technique that involves calling 911 and pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives.

  • Each year in the U.S., EMS treats nearly 300,000 people who suffer cardiac arrest at homes, at work or in public locations.

  • Providing CPR to an adult who has collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest can more than double that person's chance of survival.

  • Studies of real emergencies that have occurred in homes, at work or in public locations, show that Hands-Only CPR, can be as effective as conventional CPR.
